Barnet

Haringey

Hillingdon

Hillingdon is the borough furthest West in Greater London. It was formed from the districts of Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood, Uxbridge, and Yiewsley and West Drayton in the historic county of Middlesex.

Richmond upon Thames

Richmond upon Thames forms part of Outer London and is the only London borough on both sides of the River Thames.

South London

Bexley

Bexley has common borders with Bromley to the south, the Royal Borough of Greenwich to the west, across the River Thames to the north it borders Havering, Barking and Dagenham and there is a small boundary with the unitary authority of Thurrock in Essex to the north-east.

London Borough of Bromley

The London Borough of Bromley is south of the River Thames which flows through London. The borough is the largest in Greater London by area and covers 59 square miles.

Croydon

Croydon is the southernmost borough of London. Croydon covers an area of 33.6 sq miles and is the largest London borough by population.

Greenwich

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is situated in south-east London. The London Borough of Greenwich was formed in 1965 by the amalgamation of the former area of the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich with part of the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich to the east.

Kingston upon Thames

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is a borough in southwest London. The main town is Kingston upon Thames and it includes Surbiton, Chessington, Malden Rushett, New Malden, Tolworth and part of Worcester Park.

Lewisham

The London Borough of Lewisham is situated in south London. The borough is surrounded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to the east, the London Borough of Bromley to the south and the London Borough of Southwark to the west.

Merton

Merton was formed under the London Government Act 1963 in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon and the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly within Surrey.

Richmond Upon Thames

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is situated in south-west London. It forms part of Outer London and is the only London borough on both sides of the River Thames. It was created in 1965.

Sutton

The London Borough of Sutton is a London borough in South West London and forms part of Outer London. It covers an area of 17 sq miles and is the 80th largest local authority in England by population. It is one of the southernmost boroughs of London.

East London

Tower Hamlets

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is a London Borough in East London which covers much of the traditional East End. The Borough was formed in 1965 from the merger of the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Stepney, Poplar and Bethnal Green.

Newham

The London Borough of Newham is a London borough formed from the former Essex county boroughs of West Ham and East Ham, within east London.

Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest is between Epping Forest/Essex in the north, Redbridge in the east, Newham and Hackney in the south, and Haringey and Enfield in the west, where the River Lea and Lea Valley and the surrounding parkland forms a green corridor separating north and east London.

Barking and Dagenham

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is a London borough in East London. It lies around 9 miles east of Central London.

Redbridge

The London Borough of Redbridge is a London borough in East London. It is known for its award-winning parks and open spaces, excellent transport links, thriving shopping areas and high-performing schools.

Havering

The London Borough of Havering is situated in East London and forms part of Outer London. The principal town in Havering is Romford and the other main communities are Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham.

Camden

The London Borough of Camden is a borough in north west London, it forms part of Inner London. Created in 1965 from the former area of the metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, Holborn, and St Pancras, which had previously formed part of the County of London.

Greenwich

Taking its name from the historic town of Greenwich, the London Borough of Greenwich was formed in 1965 by the amalgamation of the former area of the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich with part of the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich to the east.

Hackney

The London Borough of Hackney is a London Borough in Inner London. The modern borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the Metropolitan Borough of Hackney with the much smaller Metropolitan Boroughs of Stoke Newington and Shoreditch.

Hammersmith

The borough was formed in 1965 by merging the Metropolitan Borough of Hammersmith and the much more ancient Metropolitan Borough of Fulham.

Islington

Islington is a London borough in Inner London. It was formed in 1965 by merging the former metropolitan boroughs of Islington and Finsbury, but the merged entity remains the second smallest borough in London and the third smallest district in England.
Southwark

Kensington and Chelsea

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is an inner London borough of Royal borough status, to the west of the centre. It is the smallest borough in London and the second smallest district in England.

Lambeth

Lambeth is a London borough in south London, which forms part of Inner London. Until 1889, Surrey included the present-day London borough of Lambeth. Lambeth is one of 14 local authorities which make up Inner London. A diverse and vibrant area with a population of around 330,000.

Southwark

The London Borough of Southwark is in south London and forms part of Inner London. It is connected by bridges across the River Thames to the City of London. It was created in 1965 when three smaller council areas amalgamated under the London Government Act 1963.

Wandsworth

Wandsworth borders the London Borough of Lambeth to the east, the London Borough of Merton and the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames to the south, the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to the west and to the north the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster.

Westminster

Westminster is an Inner London borough which also holds city status. Westminster is to the west of the ancient City of London, to the east of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and its southern boundary is the River Thames.
